오래된 건물 안에 새로운 사무실을 만들었습니다. 도시와 직접 마주하는 작은 상자 안에는 일하는 자리와 무엇도 정해지지 않은 공간이 함께 있습니다.
A new office inside an old building. In a small box directly facing the city, a place for work and a space where nothing is decided sit together.
Project →21번의 목재 카운터와 벤치, 에어컨 가림막을 고치고, 덧대고, 교체했습니다. 작업에 대한 긴 글은 이곳에 → YOU DIED — 무엇을 남길까? We repaired, added to, and replaced the timber counter, bench, and air-conditioning screen from Project 021.

004.2 table / refinished
오래전에 만들었던 테이블을 고쳐 쓰기로 했습니다.
새로 만드는 편이 더 쉽고 요즘다울 수 있지만 의뢰인과 함께 곱게 갈아내고 이전보다 조금 더 좋은 오일을 바르기로 했습니다.
We decided to repair a table we made some years ago.
Making a new one would have been easier, and perhaps more of the moment, but together with the client we sanded it smooth and applied a slightly better oil than before.

017 cultural complex / gimpo
제조 설비가 빠져나간 옛 공장에는 큰 빈 공간이 남아 있었습니다.
벽은 기둥 열을 따라 놓되 중앙에서 멈추고, 같은 구조의 규칙은 네 개의 신축 동까지 이어졌습니다.
건물 사이의 안뜰은 앞으로의 쓰임을 위해 비워 두었습니다.
After the manufacturing equipment moved out, a large empty space remained in the old factory.
Walls follow the rows of columns but stop at the centre; the same structural rule extends to the four new buildings.
The courtyard between them is left empty for future use.

043 김포 유치원, Competition Entry
큰 유치원은 공동주거와 크게 다르지 않다고 생각했습니다. 고밀도를 수용하기 위해 여러 층으로 올라가야만 한다면, 교실과 교실을 잇는 넓은 발코니에서 아이들이 햇살과 바람을 느끼며 뛸 수 있으면 좋겠다고 생각했습니다.
Gimpo Kindergarten, Competition Entry
A large kindergarten is not so different from collective housing. If accommodating a high density requires building upward, wide balconies connecting the classrooms can provide places where children run while feeling the sunlight and wind.

낡은 냉장고를 가리기 위해 둥근 벽을 세웠습니다.
공간의 구성은 무엇을 보여줄지보다 무엇을 숨길지 찾는 데서 시작되었습니다.
냉장고 뒤에 남겨진 공간은 의뢰인이 잠시 쉬는 작은 장소가 되었습니다.
A round wall hides an old refrigerator.
The composition began not with what to show, but with what to hide.
The space left behind the refrigerator became a small place for the client to rest.
Project →VAA(이윤석), STROLL(임유민, 팔손)과 함께 2026년 「아르코 건축예술랩」 프로젝트에 최종 선정되었습니다. 11월 아르코 미술관에서의 전시와 발표회를 준비 중입니다. Our collaborative project with VAA(이윤석) and STROLL(임유민, 팔손) was selected for the 2026 ARKO Architecture Art Lab. We are preparing an exhibition and presentation at the ARKO Art Center this November.

038 house / unbuilt
헛간을 닮은 작은 건물들을 삼각형 대지 위에 느슨하게 놓았습니다.
건물들은 서로 떨어져 있고, 그 사이에 만들어진 마당을 지나며 이동합니다.
Small buildings resembling barns sit loosely on a triangular site.
The buildings stand apart, and movement passes through the yards formed between them.

030 restaurant / dongtan
구조 목재(SPF)로 가구와 여러 도구를 만들었습니다.
엔조 마리와 요른 웃손의 가구에서 가져온 요소들 사이에 새로운 디테일을 끼워 넣었습니다.
완성된 공간은 여전히 잘 정리된 시공 현장처럼 보입니다.
Furniture and various tools, made from structural timber (SPF).
New details are set between elements borrowed from the furniture of Enzo Mari and Jørn Utzon.
The finished space still looks like a well-ordered construction site.

013.2 studio / goyang
예전에 만들었던 작업 공간을 다른 곳으로 옮기는 일을 했습니다.
최대한 있는 것들로 다시 만들고자 했어요.
필요한 만큼 벽을 잘라내고, 잘라낸 자리는 남는 자재로 메웠습니다.
쓰던 작업대는 높이를 낮춰 벤치로 만들었습니다.
A workspace we made some years ago was moved to another place.
We wanted to remake it with as much of what was already there as possible.
Walls were cut only as far as needed, and the cuts were filled with leftover material.
The worktable in use was lowered to become a bench.

028 pavilion / competition finalist
경사진 옥상 위에 합판 원장 높이의 큰 원형 벽을 세웠습니다.
투바이 각재와 합판을 반복해 조립하고, 바닥의 기울기는 그대로 받아들였습니다.
기울어진 벽은 벤치의 등받이가 되어 도시를 가리고 하늘을 남깁니다.
A large circular wall, the height of a full plywood sheet, stands on a sloped rooftop.
Two-by lumber and plywood are assembled in repetition, and the slope of the floor is accepted as it is.
The tilted wall becomes the back of a bench, hiding the city and leaving the sky.

015 cafe / cheongju
오래된 집을 낯선 모습으로 바꾸기 위해 바닥의 페이빙과 난로는 남기고, 가구와 벽, 지붕은 새로 만들었습니다.
가벼운 창호 구조 위에는 육중한 곡면 지붕을 얹었습니다.
To make the old house look unfamiliar, the floor paving and the stove were kept, while the furniture, walls, and roof were made anew.
On a light structure of window frames rests a heavy curved roof.

019.1 cafe / uljin
바다를 바라보는 카페의 위층에 아무것도 하지 않아도 되는 공간을 만들었습니다.
벽과 내부 정원을 지나 테라스에 도착하면, 높은 등받이의 벤치가 바다를 가리고 그 위로 하늘만 남습니다.
Upstairs in a cafe facing the sea, a space where nothing needs to be done.
Past a wall and an inner garden, at the terrace, a high-backed bench hides the sea and leaves only the sky above.

훼손되고 오염된 부분만 걷어내고 낡은 공간을 수리했습니다.
새로운 벽을 세우는 대신, 현장에 맞춰 만든 가구들을 느슨하게 놓아 카페의 자리를 만들었습니다.
Only the damaged and contaminated parts were removed; the worn space was repaired.
Instead of new walls, furniture made to fit the site is loosely placed to form the cafe.

낮은 벽들을 세워 하나의 큰 공간 안에 서로 다른 자리들을 만들었습니다.
벽 사이에는 각기 다른 가구와 분위기가 놓이고, 시선은 그 위를 지나 공간 전체로 이어집니다.
벽들은 무언가를 완전히 나누거나 감추지 않은 채, 그 자체로 공간 안에 남아 있습니다.
Low walls make different places within one large space.
Between the walls sit different furniture and atmospheres, while the eye passes over them to the whole space.
Without fully dividing or concealing anything, the walls remain in the space as they are.

035 hotel / uljin
빛바랜 청사진에 남은 대칭과 비례를 따라 기존 구조를 고쳐 쓰고 있습니다.
새로운 보강과 변형은 이 질서를 흐리지 않는 범위에서 더해지며, 설계는 현장의 상태를 살피며 계속 이어집니다.
Following the symmetry and proportions left in faded blueprints, the existing structure is being rewritten.
New reinforcements and alterations are added only as far as they do not blur this order, and the design continues, following the conditions found on site.

1980년대의 지붕 아래 2020년대의 벽을 세웠습니다.
기존 내력벽에 300mm의 벽을 덧붙여 익숙한 집의 비례를 조금 흐트러뜨렸습니다.
지붕 아래 새로 만들어진 것들은 과거와 타협하지 않고 현재에 머무릅니다.
Under a roof from the 1980s stand walls of the 2020s.
A 300mm wall added to the existing bearing walls slightly unsettles the familiar proportions of a house.
What is newly made under the roof stays in the present, without compromising with the past.

바다와 마주한 현장에서 개입의 수위를 오래 고민했습니다.
입구의 곡면 벽은 배전함 같은 설비를 가리는 동시에, 시선을 창밖의 바다로 이끕니다.
풍경을 거스르지 않는 최소한의 장치들만 만들었습니다.
On a site facing the sea, how far to intervene remained a long question.
The curved wall at the entrance hides equipment such as the distribution box while drawing the eye to the sea beyond the window.
Only the fewest devices were made, none against the landscape.
